Inuit Canoe Model
To keep morale up in the harsh and trying times of war, handmade items were sent to soldiers. These handmade items were often made by young girls from First Nations communities. Another name for the canoe that was commonly used is Umiak, with various spellings along all coastal areas.
Inupiat Sewing Kit
This kit was made by the Inupiat of the northern part of Alaska. Sewing was a skill learned to maintain clothing and equipment, to hunt for animals, and to be able to live in an arctic environment.
